§ 17. Mr. Edmund Harveyasked the Home Secretary whether arrangements have been made for the continuation of educational classes in prisons?
§ Sir J. AndersonThe hon. Member will, I am sure, appreciate that many of those who have been good enough to devote their leisure hours to this work now find it impossible to continue to do so in wartime conditions. The Prison Commissioners are, however, anxious that these classes should be continued so far as possible, and efforts are being made to rccontruct the educational programmes on a war-time basis so far as circumstances permit.
