HC Deb 08 November 1939 vol 353 cc205-6
42. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of In formation whether he is aware of the disappointment felt by the Highlands of Scotland and Gaelic-speaking Scots in the Forces at the absence of regular news broadcasts in their language; and whether he will arrange with the British Broad casting Corporation for daily or periodical broadcasts of news in Gaelic?

Sir E. Grigg

I am glad to be able to inform the hon. Member that the B.B.C. has arranged to broadcast a brief weekly summary of news in Gaelic in the near future.

Mr. Cassells

Will the Parliamentary Secretary make certain that in the programme there will be no playing of "There will always be an England"?
