§ 43. Sir Patrick Hannonasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Information whether arrangements are being made by the British Broadcasting Corporation for broadcasts in Portuguese to Brazil with the object of controverting the false statements made by the German propaganda agencies to the injury of British trade with that country?
§ Sir E. GriggThe B.B.C, has broadcast in Portuguese for Brazil regularly since March, 1938. At the outbreak of war special arrangements were made to facilitate the reception in Brazil of bulletins broadcast in both the Latin-American and the European services of the B.B.C, and there are at present three news bulletins a day in Portuguese. There are also at least two special talks a week in Portguese for Brazil. One of the main objects of this service is that suggested by my hon. Friend.
§ Sir P. HannonIs my hon. Friend now satisfied that everything possible is being done to keep the war aims of this country before the people of Brazil?
§ Sir E. GriggYes, Sir, we are doing all that we can in the time available.
