HC Deb 08 November 1939 vol 353 cc215-6
56. Sir Joseph Leech

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he will invite the Herring Industry Board to introduce more widely to the public and the Service canteens, the merits of the Yarmouth high-dried wood-smoked ham-cured herring, in view of its nutritious qualities and the fact that it is now but little known?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I have consulted the Herring Industry Board and am assured of their willing co-operation in this matter. The herring to which my hon. Friend refers is one of a number of products which are already widely commended by the board to the general public and the Service canteens.
