asked the Minister of Transport in how many cases the Electricity Commissioners have granted applications from electricity undertakers for loans for extensions during September and October, 1939; the amount of the loans so sanctioned; and similar figures for loans refused during the period mentioned?

The number of sanctions granted by the commissioners during September and up to 28th October, 1939, was 139; and the amount of the loans so sanctioned was £4,594,365. No applications for loan sanction were refused during the period mentioned.
