HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 cc2664-5

Lords Amendment: In page 9, line 44, at the end, insert: or by any person who satisfies such a tribunal that he is a relative or personal friend of the party he proposes to represent.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Mr. W. S. Morrison)

I beg to move, "That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment."

This Amendment is moved in order to meet a wish which was generally expressed, to include among the representatives of a person appearing both before the tribunal a relative or personal friend. The Clause as it stands does not make that provision and the Amendment makes it possible.

Mr. Edmund Harvey

I should like to express the thanks of those hon. Members who pressed for this Amendment. It is very satisfactory to have this provision in the wording of the Bill.
