HC Deb 08 May 1939 vol 347 c22
40. Mr. Day

asked the Postmaster-General particulars of the number of parcels despatched on the cash-on-delivery system that have not been delivered at the first attempt?

The Postmaster-General (Major Tryon)

I regret that no information is available as to the number of cash-on-delivery parcels which are not delivered at the first attempt.

Mr. Day

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the postmen have instructions to endeavour to deliver on the second delivery?

Major Tryon

They are normally sent out again, except in cases where delivery has been obviously impossible.
