asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider now introducing legislation for the purpose of enabling all serving soldiers under the age of 26 to qualify for the marriage allowance?

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement on this subject which I made on 14th March on the Report stage of Army Estimates.

When will the inquiries, which have been carried on for many whether a grant will be made to serving officers to cover the cost of their new battle dress?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

As battle dress becomes available, officers will be required to provide and maintain one suit of service dress and one suit of battle dress, instead of two suits of service dress, which they have previously needed.

May I ask who is to pay for this battle dress?
