HC Deb 16 March 1939 vol 345 cc600-1
82. Mr. Keeling

asked the Home Secretary how many Parliamentary divisions in Great Britain have a boundary which overlaps, or is overlapped by, a local government boundary?

Mr. Lloyd

The number of constituencies in Great Britain with boundaries which overlap the boundaries of local government administrative areas is 303 of which 250 are Parliamentary county divisions and 53 are Parliamentary borough divisions. The number of Parliamentary counties with boundaries which overlap the boundaries of local government administrative areas is 51 and the number of Parliamentary boroughs with boundaries which overlap the boundaries of local government administrative areas is 86. For this purpose the expression "local government administrative area" refers in England and Wales to a municipal borough, urban district or rural district, and in Scotland to a county, large burgh or small burgh.
