HC Deb 16 March 1939 vol 345 cc594-5
75. Mr. J. Griffiths

asked the Minister of Health what progress has been made in the provision of houses by local authorities in Carmarthenshire, following upon the recommendations made by his officers after their investigation into housing conditions in the county?

Mr. Elliot

I am impressed by the efforts which nearly all the local authorities in the county are now making to improve the housing conditions in the county, and I can assure the hon. Member that I will continue to keep a watchful eye on the position.

Mr. Griffiths

Since the report of his own officers two years ago—and we know that the conditions in this county are revolting—how can the right hon. Gentleman explain the delay in following up the recommendations of his own officers?

Mr. Elliot

I am impressed by the efforts which the local authorities are now making.
