HC Deb 07 March 1939 vol 344 c1924
86. Mr. Mander

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of calling an international peace conference for the purpose of considering the most appropriate steps for securing international justice through the establishment of an equity tribunal in order to settle all disputes, and a police force to uphold international law and order, as an effective alternative to the present race in armaments?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir. In the view of His Majesty's Government there is at present no prospect of general agreement on proposals for an equity tribunal and an international police force.

Mr. Mander

Will the Prime Minister say what policy the Government have, if any, as an alternative to the race in armaments?

The Prime Minister

Not in answer to a supplementary question.
