HC Deb 02 March 1939 vol 344 cc1438-9
74. Mr. Pearson

asked the Minister of Labour what number of factories on the Treforest Trading Estate come under the Trade Board rates for the payment of their employés; and will he enumerate the firms?

Mr. E. Brown

I am making inquiries and will write to the hon. Member.

Major Colfox

May I ask you, Mr. Speaker, whether it is in order for an hon. Member to ask a question without standing up?

Mr. Speaker

The best way of asking questions is to stand up, and then I can see if the hon. Member is here.

Mr. Thorne

On a point of Order. Is it not the fact that sometimes when we stand up you ask us to sit down?

Mr. Pearson

Does the right hon. Gentleman appreciate the importance of the foreign immigrant firms paying fair rates of wages?

Mr. Brown

I have already said that I have not seen the report and that I am going to make inquiries and will let the hon. Member know.
