HC Deb 02 March 1939 vol 344 cc1449-50
62. Mr. Lawson

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has any information as to when the Committee for Public Works appointed by the International Labour Office will hold its first meeting?

Mr. E. Brown

A preliminary meeting was held in June last. It will be for the Governing Body of the International Labour Office to decide when the next meeting is to be convened.

Mr. Lawson

Has a representative of the Department been appointed to this committee yet?

Mr. Brown

There was a representative at the original meeting, and there will be at the next.

Mr. Lawson

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that I asked this question last week and could not get an answer?

Mr. Brown

A representative of His Majesty's Government was present at the original meeting, and, of course, we do not appoint a particular person until we receive notice when the next meeting is to be held, and then we shall do so.
