HC Deb 12 June 1939 vol 348 cc890-1
42. Mr. R. C. Morrison

asked the Post-master-General how many Post Office employés will be called up for military service; and whether they will receive any payment from the Post Office during their period of training?

Major Tryon

There are about 2,300 Post Office servants now between 20 and 21 years of age who will be called up for training under the Military Training Act. As regards the latter part of the hon. Member's question, I would refer him to the information about the position of civil servants called up for training under this Act, which the Financial Secretary to the Treasury gave on 25th May in answer to a question by the hon. Member for West Walthamstow (Mr. McEntee).
