HC Deb 31 July 1939 vol 350 c1952
87. Mr. E. Smith

asked the Postmaster-General what site has been selected for the proposed new central Post Office for the city of Stoke-on-Trent; when it is intended to start building; and at what date it is expected to be completed?

Major Tryon

An offer of a site in Campbell Place for a new central public office has been accepted, but it: is not yet possible to say when building will begin or be completed. The question of a new site for the head postmaster's office and the sorting office is still under consideration.

Mr. Smith

Would the Postmaster-General take steps to expedite the construction of the new office, in view of the conditions under which the staff have to carry on their work?

Major Tryon

We are getting on with the matter. As I have said, we have got a site.
