HC Deb 05 July 1939 vol 349 cc1300-1
59. Mr. Creech Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether Parliament will have the opportunity of discussing the Royal Commission's Report on the Rhodesias before the Government commits itself to any particular line of policy?

Mr. M. MacDonald

As the hon. Member knows, previous statements of policy on this subject have been made after consultation between the Government and other parties in the House, and in pur- suance of this practice it is proposed that the leaders of the Opposition parties should be consulted in due course before a statement is made on behalf of the Government regarding the report of the Royal Commission.
