asked the Secretary of State for Air whether it is proposed to make further use of facilities available at Stoke-on-Trent for the purpose of the Royal Air Force expansion scheme?

Sir K. Wood

Yes, Sir. I am glad to be able to announce that it is proposed to establish a depot for Royal Air Force purposes near the aerodrome at Stoke-on-Trent which when in full operation will employ some 2,500 men.

Mr. Smith

Can the right hon. Gentleman give an assurance that where practicable local applicants for employment will be given preference?

Instructions will be issued that as much local labour as possible should be employed
