HC Deb 05 July 1939 vol 349 cc1301-2
63. Mr. Lunn

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the circumstances accompanying the liquidation of the British Guiana Building Society, Limited, he will instruct the Governor to institute an inquiry into the conduct and administration of that building society?

Mr. M. MacDonald

The Official Receiver investigated the affairs of the society when the winding-up order was made. In these circumstances I see no reason for an inquiry of the nature suggested by the hon. Member.

Mr. Lunn

Has the right hon. Gentleman inquired into this particular case, and, if not, will he do so and reconsider his decision?

Mr. MacDonald

I am satisfied with the report of the Official Receiver, and I am satisfied that he got all the information possible and that his report is satisfactory.
