HC Deb 03 July 1939 vol 349 c916
63. Sir William Davison

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he is prepared to agree to the opening of Albion Gate for east-going vehicular traffic so as to relieve, to some extent, the congestion at Victoria Gate pending the carrying out of the necessary alterations?

The First Commissioner of Works (Mr. Ramsbotham)

Albion Gate was opened in 1937 for a period, and having regard to the experience then gained, I regret that I do not see my way to adopting my hon. Friend's suggestion.

Sir W. Davison

Will the Office of Works use their good offices with the London County Council and the Ministry of Transport to get this congestion remedied in some other way?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I hope that some improvement will take place as a result of good will.
