HC Deb 21 February 1939 vol 344 cc196-7
78. Mr. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Air what definite orders have been placed by his Department in the neighbourhood of Airdrie, Lanarkshire; and whether further orders will be placed there in the near future?

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Captain Harold Balfour)

Records of orders are not maintained on a geographical basis and it is impossible to state without considerable expenditure of time and labour what orders have been placed in any particular locality. My hon. Friend will, no doubt, be aware of the exhibitions which are now being held at Edinburgh and Glasgow to enable manufacturers in Scotland to judge whether their resources are such as could be utilised in the air rearmament programme.
