HC Deb 16 February 1939 vol 343 cc1885-6
31. Mr. G. Griffiths

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education what arrangements the Government has made for university education in the event of war?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education (Mr. Kenneth Lindsay)

Representatives of the universities are, I understand, in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Lord Privy Seal with a view to preparing plans to enable university education to continue so far as may be appropriate in time of war, and for securing those special services to war-time needs which the universities may be able to render.

Mr. Griffiths

Do I understand that the scheme is not yet complete?

Mr. Lindsay

I think that perhaps the hon. Member might put down a question on that point to the Lord Privy Seal.
