HC Deb 07 December 1939 vol 355 c815
60. Mr. David Adams

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware of the repeated demands in the Durham coalfield for a new Workmen's Compensation Act, and that the grave defects in existing legislation, to which the Mine Workers' Federation referred in its evidence before the Royal Commission, have been aggravated by conditions which have arisen since the outbreak of war; and whether it is intended to introduce legislation to deal with this question without further delay?

Sir J. Anderson

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement on this subject which was made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the course of the Debate on 29th November.

Mr. Adams

Can the Minister advise me what the purport of that address was?
