HC Deb 07 December 1939 vol 355 c815
57. Commander Locker-Lampson

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware of the amount of waste in thrown-away tickets, cigarette cases, newspapers, books, etc.; and whether he will consider Authorising and-raid wardens and their organisations to be used to make weekly collections of paper that can not only be used again but is in many cases a necessary ingredient for ammunition?

Sir J. Anderson

I do not think it would be appropriate for me to make any recommendation to local authorities in the sense suggested.
