§ 65. Sir Percy Harrisasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education what proportion of children of school age in the neutral areas are now attending school; and whether any of them and, if so, how many, are attending only half time?
§ Mr. MunroMy hon. Friend is not yet in a position to give the desired information. Local education authorities were asked in Circular 1487 of 23rd November to supply the Board with statements of the arrangements proposed for the school attendance of children, but the returns are not yet complete. My hon. Friend hopes to give full information at the beginning of the New Year.
§ Sir P. HarrisCan the hon. Gentleman say why in neutral areas, to which people are supposed to go to live, it has been found necessary to close the schools and leave the children on the streets? Can he give me any explanation?
