asked the Minister of Labour when the Trade Board machinery for the bakery trade will be set up in Scotland; and from what date it will operate?

Mr. E. Brown

The Scottish Baking Trade Board met for the second time on 22nd November and adopted proposals regarding minimum wages. These proposals will now be posted up in all Scottish baking establishments; two months are allowed for objections which must be considered by the board, before the rates are submitted for confirmation.

Mr. Mathers

Are there no means of accelerating the giving of effect to these awards?

Mr. Brown

Yes, Sir, a Bill is in preparation to speed up the machinery, and we are now in consultation with the representatives of both sides on the matter.
