HC Deb 26 April 1939 vol 346 c1144
63. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in the event of a European war and His Majesty's Government being deprived of the advantages of the usual facilities of the Port of London for the purpose of disembarking special cargoes of foodstuffs and raw materials, arrangements have been made for the distribution of imports vital to the life of the nation?

Captain Wallace

Arrangements have been made to deal with conditions such as those contemplated in this question, but it would not be in the public interest to disclose them.

Mr. Day

Will the Minister say whether the committee which is going into this matter has reached a final decision?

Captain Wallace

I do not think that any decision would be final in this matter.
