HC Deb 28 November 1938 vol 342 c39
80. Mr. Remer

asked the Home Secretary whether, when appointing advisers to the motor patrol department of the Metropolitan Police, due regard is taken to their past motoring experience and their past driving record?

Mr. Lloyd

For the first six months of 1937 there was a temporary arrangement for an adviser to the motor patrol department of the Metropolitan Police, but the arrangement came to an end when the adviser had completed the duties for which he was appointed. In making this temporary appointment regard was paid to the motoring experience and special qualifications of the gentleman chosen to undertake this work.

Mr. Remer

Is my hon. Friend aware that during the period to which he referred certain people were taken on with very little driving experience and dreadful driving records, and if I send him particulars of a case, will he look into it?

Mr. Lloyd

Certainly, Sir.
