HC Deb 28 November 1938 vol 342 cc25-6
40. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will inquire into the price which growers of Brussels sprouts in the Vale of Evesham have been receiving for their produce during the past few months, with a view to ensuring that, in future, the growers shall receive an economic and adequate price for their produce?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I receive each week full particulars of prices realised for Brussels sprouts at Evesham market, which prices are representative of those ruling in the Vale of Evesham. The question of an inquiry does not, therefore, arise.

Mr. De la Bère

Is my right hon. Friend aware of the superlative quality and health-giving properties of these sprouts, and, in view of that fact, will he give some consideration to the matter in order to get a better price; and perhaps he will be good enough to confer with me afterwards?

Mr. Morrison

I am well aware of the superlative quality of everything that emanates from the Vale of Evesham.
