HC Deb 17 November 1938 vol 341 c1030
23. Mr. R. Robinson

asked the Minister of Labour what action has been taken by trade boards in connection with the powers conferred on them under the Holidays with Pay Act?

Mr. E. Brown

Ten trade boards have already met to consider the question of holidays with pay. In the case of seven of these boards, schemes are being drafted for consideration. In the case of one board it has been decided not to proceed with a statutory scheme, but the organisations represented on the two sides of the board have entered into a voluntary agreement to provide for holidays with pay up to a maximum of six days a year.

Mr. Mander

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why the other trade boards have not met?

Mr. Brown

As the hon. Member knows, the meetings take place at irregular intervals. As and when they meet, of course, this question comes up for discussion.
