asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to begin operations in the draining of the Kelvin Valley?

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Colville)

The drainage scheme made by the Department of Agriculture for Scotland in respect of the River Kelvin is to-day being laid before both Houses of Parliament in accordance with the statutory requirement. Assuming favourable weather conditions the Department intend to commence the works as soon as the necessary Parliamentary procedure has been completed.
