HC Deb 25 May 1938 vol 336 c1206
55. Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether the eight dismissed aircraft inspectors at Messrs. Roote's factory, Coventry, were dismissed after consultation between the management and the Ministry, with the prior knowledge of the Ministry or on the sole responsibility of the management; and whether, in view of the importance of the function of these inspectors, he will take steps to secure their reinstatement?

Sir K. Wood

The action referred to was taken without the prior knowledge of my Department and on the responsibility of the management, by whom such matters have to be determined.

Mr. Gallacher

Will the Minister not take up this point and see either that the dismissals are withdrawn or that some reason is given for them?

Sir K. Wood

I will take up the matter.

Vice-Admiral Taylor

Is not this another balloon burst?
