§ 57. Sir Reģinald Clarryasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that there is a substantial increase in the imports from Belgium during the first quarter of this year, accompanied by a fall in the exports of British goods to Belgium; and whether he proposes to take any steps in the matter?
§ Mr. R. S. Hudson (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The position of the trade referred to is constantly under review, but I do 846 not regard the increased adverse balance of visible trade in one quarter of the year as a sufficient reason in itself for any special action.
