asked the Minister of Health the average amount of subsidy per house paid by the Treasury for houses built under the Housing (Slum-Clearance) Act by local authorities in the county of Durham since the passing of the Act?

The Exchequer contributions referred to are based on the number of persons displaced from unfit property for whom accommodation in new houses is provided. Up to 31st March, 1938, the contributions promised to local authorities in the county of Durham are equivalent to an average of £ 10 per house per annum for 40 years.
