HC Deb 12 May 1938 vol 335 c1707
45. Mr. Day

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the recent agreement entered into between His Majesty's Government and the Italian Government, he will give particulars of whether it is proposed to modify or make any alterations in the project for fortifying the island of Cyprus?

The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir John Simon)

His Majesty's Government have not approved any project for fortifying the island of Cyprus. The question, therefore, does not arise.

Mr. Day

Is the right hon. Gentleman satisfied that sufficient protective measures have been taken in case of any air attack on the Island?
