HC Deb 12 May 1938 vol 335 cc1706-7
42. Colonel Wedgwood

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been call to a recent resolution of the Architects' Registration Council to the effect that, in view of the several ambiguities in the Act, amending legislation is necessary; and whether he will take steps to secure the removal of these ambiguities and inequalities of the existing law?

Sir S. Hoare

The answer to both parts of the question is in the negative.

Colonel Wedgwood

Does the Bill which is to be discussed to-morrow on Report in fact remove the ambiguities and inequities, in view of the undertaking given by the Under-Secretary on Second Reading?

Sir S. Hoare

I am afraid I cannot answer that question. It is a private Member's Bill.

Colonel Wedgwood

Did not the right hon. Gentleman's Under-Secretary, when the Bill was being discussed on Second Reading, say that it would receive careful consideration from the Government, and every assistance in the Committee stage?

Sir S. Hoare

The right hon. Gentleman asked me whether I have received a resolution on the subject. I have not.
