HC Deb 12 May 1938 vol 335 c1687
15. Mr. Storey

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that in some areas an impression exists amongst the unemployed that men volunteering for air-raid precautions work may lose their unemployment benefit as not being available for employment; and whether he will take steps to remove this impression?

Mr. E. Brown

I have already had this matter under consideration, and propose to issue a statement on the subject at an early date.

Mr. Storey

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that that statement is made known to Employment Exchanges?

Mr. Brown

It will be known generally. If the hon. Member wants the maximum publicity, perhaps he will consult with me and put another question in this House.
