§ 43. Mr. Morganasked the Postmaster-General whether the British broadcasts in Arabic are in the form of Arabic which is understood by the Arabs in Palestine, Iraq, and Iran; and whether it is the same form of Arabic which is used by the Italian broadcasting station at Bari.

WomersleyI am informed by the British Broadcasting Corporation that the form of Arabic used in the broadcasts is modern literary Arabic, which is the language of contemporary writers and newspapers in all parts of the Arabic world. I understand that the same form of Arabic is used by the Italian broadcasting stations of Rome and Bari.
