HC Deb 24 March 1938 vol 333 cc1369-70
49. Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Health what steps have been taken or are in preparation for dealing with the pollution of the River Tyne?

Sir K. Wood

A report by consulting engineers on a scheme of sewerage and sewage disposal for the tidal portion of the river is, I understand, receiving the careful consideration of the local authorities concerned.

Mr. Adams

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this matter has been giving very grave concern to the riparian authorities on Tyneside for many years past?
