HC Deb 23 March 1938 vol 333 c1198
51. Mr. R. Robinson

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what progress has been made by Imperial Airways and British Airways in securing the services of full-time chairmen, as recommended by the Cadman Report?

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead)

Both Imperial Airways and British Airways have accepted this recommendation of the Cadman Committee, and steps are being taken to implement it.

Mr. Robinson

Can my hon. and gallant Friend say whether the present chairmen intend to resign, or whether they intend to devote their full-time services?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

I cannot give an answer to that question.

Mr. Mander

Do the same remarks apply to the appointment of full-time directors in addition to chairmen, as recommended?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

Yes, the recommendation has been so interpreted.
