HC Deb 23 March 1938 vol 333 cc1210-1
73. Mr. Thorne

asked the Home Secretary whether he can give any information in connection with a man killed by an electrically-controlled lift at the Millom ironworks on Wednesday last; and what was the cause of the accident?

Mr. Lloyd

This accident was due to the sudden descent of the cage for a distance of about six feet, whilst trucks were being removed. The cause has not been definitely discovered, but it is thought that the driver must have inadvertently moved the controller handle.
