HC Deb 21 March 1938 vol 333 cc833-4
35. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Postmaster-General what steps the British Broadcasting Corporation are taking to protect their rights under the Copyright Act against cinemas displaying large-screen television?

Major Tryon

I am informed by the British Broadcasting Corporation that in a few special cases in which the interests of other parties are involved, a precautionary notice on this subject is being included in the programme. Beyond this, no general steps in the direction suggested have as yet been found necessary.

Mr. De la Bère

Can the Minister clarify that statement a little?

Major Tryon

I am not prepared to give a legal opinion on the matter.
