HC Deb 17 March 1938 vol 333 cc592-3
68. Colonel Nathan

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been drawn to the continued pollution of the River Wandle; whether he can state the principal source of the pollution; and what steps are being taken to improve the condition of the river?

Sir K. Wood

Yes, Sir. The principal causes of pollution seem to be trade wastes and the deposit of rubbish. I understand that the London County Council are continuing to take all practicable steps to improve the condition of the river.
