HC Deb 17 March 1938 vol 333 cc575-6
30. Mr. McEntee

asked the Home Secretary whether he proposes to take any steps to ensure that unmarried police officers in the provincial forces are provided with section-house accommodation of a standard approximating to that of the new section house at Putney?

Sir S. Hoare

The provision of accommodation for unmarried members of a county or borough police force is primarily a responsibility of the local police authority. I am always ready to give consideration to proposals of any police authority for improving the standard of the accommodation provided.

Mr. McEntee

Will the right hon. Gentleman press local authorities to bring the accommodation up to something approximating that in the Metropolitan area?

Mr. Holdsworth

Is there any reason to suppose that the standard of accommodation is not good?

Sir S. Hoare

I think it varies from one place to another, but everyone is anxious to get the standard up all round.
