asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the increasing tendency of local authorities to prohibit poultry-keeping on their housing estates, he will take the matter up with local authorities so that such poultry-keeping may be encouraged as a valuable source of food production, especially in time of national emergency?

Sir K. Wood

As I stated in the Debate on the Second Reading of the Housing (Financial Provisions) Bill, I will refer to this matter in the circular which I intend to issue to local authorities as soon as the Bill becomes law.

Is there any reason why these people should not enjoy this harmless hobby of poultry keeping?

I hope that with the concurrence of the local authorities they will be able to do so.
