HC Deb 17 March 1938 vol 333 c582
46. Mr. Arthur Henderson

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the statement published in the officially controlled German Press that Lord Halifax during his recent visit to Berlin was informed of Herr Hitler's intention to annex Austria, he will now state what were the subjects discussed by the German Chancellor and the present Foreign Secretary?

The Prime Minister

I am not prepared to add anything to the statements which have already been made on the subject of the visit which the present Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs paid to Germany. As regards the Press reports to which the hon. Member refers, I would invite his attention to the statement made by my Noble Friend yesterday, which shows that these are inaccurate.

Mr. Henderson

Can the Prime Minister arrange to have copies of that answer sent to Field-Marshal Goering, whose newspaper published this inaccurate statement?
