HC Deb 15 March 1938 vol 333 c202
36. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he will state, according to reports in his possession, the number of collieries in England and Wales that have failed to provide the necessary conveniences in accordance with the general regulations made under Section 76 of the Coal Mines Act, 1911; and what action his Department are now taking to see that these are carried out?

Captain Crookshank

I am having inquiries made and will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as they are completed.

Mr. Day

Is it a fact that many of these collieries have not provided proper sanitary conveniences according to the Act, and can the Minister say what further action is to be taken?

Captain Crookshank

I have just told the hon. Gentleman that I am making inquiries. If I had the answer it would not be necessary to do that.
