HC Deb 14 March 1938 vol 333 cc22-3
45. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Prime Minister whether he has now considered the reports of the British Legion and the Scottish section of the Legion; has he yet received the joint deputation from these two bodies; and is he now in a position to move for the appointment of a select committee?

The Prime Minister

As the hon. Member will no doubt be aware, I received a joint deputation from the British Legion and the Scottish section of the Legion on 8th March. The representations then made to me will require careful consideration by the Government, and I am not yet in a position to make any statement in regard to them.

Mr. Smith

Can the Prime Minister inform us when we shall be able to receive further information with regard to this matter in view of the time he has taken to deal with it?

The Prime Minister

I promised to give careful consideration to the representations and as soon as possible to make a statement.
