HC Deb 21 June 1938 vol 337 c880
37. Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War whether suitable alternative employment is to be offered to six instructors who are losing their jobs as a result of the closing of the Aldershot Army vocational training centre?

38. Mr. Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in closing down the Aldershot vocational training centre, the whole of the staff has been transferred to the Ministry of Labour which is carrying on elsewhere the work at Aldershot; and, if there are any exceptions, will he explain why the men are being rejected?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Arrangements have been made for absorbing, either in the Ministry of Labour centres or in other War Department establishments, the great majority of the staff in question. The numbers for whom re-employment has not yet been definitely arranged are one plasterer and two welders, who have not been employed at the centre very long. Every endeavour will, however, be made to absorb them, and a position for one of them is already in view.
