asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will arrange for samples of the latest Regular and Territorial Army recruiting posters to be exhibited at an early date in the Tea Room of this House?

Yes, Sir. Arrangements have been made for some 15 Army recruiting posters to be on exhibition to-morrow in the Tea Room.

asked the Secretary of State for War the deficit on the recruiting establishment of the Territorial Army as at the last convenient date?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

On 1st June, the Territorial Army was deficient of 20,394 officers and men, as compared with 48,235 on the corresponding date last year.

Is it proposed to make these services more attractive?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

We have already made them so attractive that the deficiency has been reduced from 48,000 to 20,000 in 12 months.

Is the proficiency bounty to be increased?
