HC Deb 26 July 1938 vol 338 c2895
63. Miss Ward

asked the Secretary of State for War in what circumstances a grant is made from Army funds towards the funeral expenses of a disability pensioner?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

As from 30th April last provision, I am glad to say, is made for the payment of a grant up to £7 10s. towards the funeral expenses of an Army disability pensioner whose death is due to a disability attributable to military service. If, in such a case, the pensioner dies while undergoing authorised hospital treatment, his funeral, if the relatives so desire, can be arranged by the military authorities in the same way as if he had died while serving.
